Ubayed Allah ibn Ali ibn Ai Talib and His Relationship with the Al-Zubayr Family in the Year 67 A.H.

Abstract

Ubayd Allah ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib is considered one of the sons of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) around whom much controversy has arisen in Islamic history. The tragic events of the Battle of Karbala, its painful military details, and the ideological, psychological, and political circumstances that unfolded — amid Umayyad exploitation of the media, the buying of pens and loyalties, and a determined effort to tarnish the image of the family of Muhammad — all contributed to portraying Karbala as a mere natural conflict between two rival factions. In such a fierce media war, a scapegoat was inevitable, and this scapegoat was embodied in Ubayd Allah ibn Ali, who became the target of Umayyad, Zubayrid, and Abbasid propaganda alike.
