Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism after submission and before the review process begins. Manuscripts are handled according to the level of similarity detected:

  • ≤ 5% similarity:
    The manuscript is assigned an ID and sent back to the author for minor content revision if needed.

  • > 5% to ≤ 20% similarity:
    The manuscript proceeds to the peer-review process.

  • > 20% to ≤ 30% similarity:
    The manuscript is returned to the author for substantial revision and is not assigned an ID.

  • > 40% similarity:
    The manuscript is rejected without review. Authors are encouraged to revise and resubmit as a new submission.

Originality Statement

By submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Basra Researches for Human Sciences, the author(s) confirm that the work is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism or duplicate publication without proper citation. All submissions may be screened using plagiarism detection software.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of presenting others’ ideas, words, or creative work as one’s own. It is a violation of academic integrity and copyright laws. It may include:

  1. Copying text directly from another source without proper citation.

  2. Using parts of another author’s work (figures, tables, equations, or illustrations) without acknowledgment.

  3. Using text or content downloaded from the internet without citation.

  4. Reproducing images, photographs, or diagrams without crediting the original source.

  5. Submitting translated work previously published in another language without proper disclosure, citation, and copyright permission.

  6. Using material from other works without proper referencing; otherwise, the author must fully rewrite the content in their own words.
