The effect of using the "Little Investigators" strategy on the achievement of fifth-grade elementary students in the subject of the Holy Quran and Islamic Education

Abstract

Objectives: This research aimed to identify the effect of using the "Little Investigators" strategy on the achievement of fifth-grade students in the Holy Quran and Islamic Education.

Methodology: The researcher adopted a quasi-experimental approach, deemed suitable for the nature and objectives of the study. The study population consisted of all primary school students in the Al-Musayyib district. The research sample comprised 68 students divided into two groups. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher developed an achievement test consisting of 40 items. Its validity, reliability, and difficulty index were confirmed. After the experiment was completed, the test was administered, and the data were collected and statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).

Results: The results showed statistically significant differences at the significance level between the mean achievement scores of the two research groups, favoring the experimental group. The calculated t-value was 6.378, which is higher than the critical t-value of 2.00, with 66 degrees of freedom.

Conclusions: The strategy contributed to making the student the focus of the educational process by involving him in research, investigation, information gathering and analysis. The strategy also provided an active classroom environment that encouraged students to cooperate, discuss and interact positively during learning. The Little Investigators strategy showed that it is one of the appropriate strategies for teaching Islamic education in the primary stage.
